Suspect Charged in Drunk Driving Crash Involving Two Students
According to Click2Houston, a suspect has been charged in the drunk driving crash that injured two Cleveland High School students. Bond was set at $25,000 for 32-year-old Dillon Ray Lamb after he allegedly hit two teenagers while driving his company truck.
The drunk driving accident happened at approximately 6:30 pm on Monday, November 28, 2022, while the two boys were crossing E. Houston Street. Reports indicate that the teens were in the crosswalk at the time of the incident.
Teens Airlifted to Houston Hospital
The Cleveland High School teens had to be airlifted to a Houston area hospital due to the severity of their injuries. Lamb was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado owned by Hunton Train company when the collision occurred.
The boys were using the crosswalk to return to the school when they were struck. Law enforcement indicated that the area was heavily trafficked and had “insufficient” lighting before and after the crosswalk making it dangerous for pedestrians. Representatives for the school district noted that it wasn’t the first time a student had been hit.
What to Do If You Are Involved in a Pedestrian Accident
Individuals involved in pedestrian accidents or DWI-related crashes are strongly encouraged to contact an experienced attorney. While a suspect may be charged through the criminal justice system, only an injured party can bring forward a civil lawsuit.
A civil lawsuit or claim for damages can help cover any accident-related expenses including compensation for medical bills, future care and treatment, lost wages, and pain and suffering. It is important to act quickly as you may only have a limited amount of time to pursue legal action.
In addition to the person that caused the accident, there may be one or more third parties that can be held legally responsible. Depending on the circumstances of the case, an injured person may have a valid claim for damages against the driver’s employer or a government entity.
